XC speed
The likely average cross-country speed, hour by hour.

XC speed is the average speed a glider could fly cross-country in that hour, including the time spent climbing.
How to read it
Section titled “How to read it”Move the hour slider to see the day build. The hours with the highest speed are the heart of the day. An hour that is too weak or too low to go anywhere shows nothing: that is the hour you would be landing in.
What goes into it
Section titled “What goes into it”The speed depends on how strong the climbs are, how deep the working height is, how much the air sinks between thermals, the wind, and your glider. See Cross-country speed and distance for how these come together.
XC speed is worked out for your glider and wing loading.
